Shack tidbit

A friend of a friend was on a flight a week ago today. He noticed Coach Pettway was on the same plane. The two had met before. Each was curious as to the other destination. Turns out Pettway was heading to California. Reason: “To get ‘Shack’ back.”
This could explain why the Tide is one of the four finalists.

Also explains why they haven't been as active searching the portal trying to fill the last scholarship.

Thanks for the update, Cary. If they can get him back, it would go a long way for next season. They already have the talent, but Shackelford would add an incredible amount of depth to the guard position.

I've seen a couple rumblings on Twitter that Shack is no longer in the transfer portal. A lot of signs indicating that he might be coming back to Alabama now.

Check out the SI story: Where Key Remaining College Basketball Transfers Could Be Heading, as it includes Shackelford.

You may remember that he listed his transfer finalists as Ohio State, Oklahoma, Texas Tech and returning to Alabama. Ohio State has already filled its roster opening, Oklahoma doesn't really need another wing, and Texas Tech plays in a much slower scheme.

The author Kevin Sweeney implied what everyone else has been thinking, the best move for Shackelford is not to go anywhere.

"A return to Alabama would once again give the Tide one of the best backcourts in the country."

Kevin Obanor is officially headed to Texas Tech. If Shack was still considering the Red Raiders (I don't believe he is), then that could be the nail in the coffin for heading out there.

Since TT was rumored to be his top choice a week or so ago, this only makes me feel more confident that Shack will return to Alabama this season.

I’m glad the tea leaves indicate a possible return. My question is what does this do to the Team chemistry? Do they welcome him back Day 1 or does it take some time? Remember there are several new faces on the team, which means new personalities.

A similar situation occurred with Petty. Chemistry will be fine imo.

I’ve been told a “family member“ is saying he will return but have not been able to corroborate yet. The signs are positive.
