Best BBQ?

Ok, so a buddy of mine and myself got into a discussion yesterday about where in the southeast has the best BBQ.

To date, the best BBQ I've had was either at SugarFire in St. Louis or Wright's in Fayetteville. Central in Memphis is also a solid choice.

What's the best place you've eaten BBQ across the southeast or Texas? Looking forward to putting some pins in my map.

I love barbecue. Pacon lodge and Franklin's in Texas were good. I enjoyed Arthur Bryant's and the rendezvous just for the history.

there's so many great places around the Southeast that don't get the notoriety, This is a great topic.

I really wanted to go to Pecan Lodge when I was in Dallas for the Rose Bowl last year, but ended up not going because the line was around the block and needed to get on the road home. It's definitely on my to-do list the next time I'm there, though.

I have family in Ft. Worth, so maybe that's an excuse for me to head out there. haha

I like Dreamland and I like Archibald's.

One of my upcoming projects, though, is to go back and try making my own sauce again ... I used to do so about 20 years ago or so (man does time fly). I got a smoker as a gift and I'm really looking forward to trying it.

(I know that doesn't answer the original question. I've been to all the places you mentioned and I once worked the World Series of Ribs festival. I hate to say it, but I actually don't have a favorite).
