Alabama Women’s Tennis Records Five Wins On Final Day of Ole Miss Fall Invite
The Crimson Tide won four singles matches and a doubles match to close the three-day tournament

OXFORD, Miss. – The Alabama women’s tennis team concluded the Ole Miss Fall Invite at the Plamer/Salloum Tennis Center Sunday with five wins on the final day of competition. Loudmilla Bencheikh, Anne Marie Hiser and Petra Sedlackova recorded their second singles win of the tournament, while doubles duo Bencheikh and Hiser posted their second win in the paired competition.

Bencheikh led the team, posting a win over No. 27 Sabina Machalova from Ole Miss. Bencheikh defeated the top-30 player in straight sets, going 6-4, 6-3 to record her second victory this season over a ranked opponent. She defeated No. 114 Karine-Marion Job of Kansas State earlier in the tournament.

Hiser recorded her second singles win Sunday, defeating Kelsey Mize of Ole Miss in two sets. Hiser went 6-3 in the first set, before taking the second set 6-4.

In another hard-fought battle, Sedlackova powered through a first-set tiebreak to move ahead 7-6(5), before dropping set two, 5-7. The UA freshman bounced back to claim the final set 6-3 to defeat Rachel Krzyzak of Ole Miss.

Anna Parkhomenko rounded out singles action, clinching a three-set win against Ole Miss’ Lillian Gabrielsen. Parkhomenko and Gabrielsen recorded mirroring scores in the opening two rounds, going 7-5, 5-7, before Parkhomenko posted a 6-2 decision for the final set.

In doubles action, Bencheikh and Hiser recorded their second consecutive win, defeating Kansas State’s Dinara Alloyarova and Anna Turco 6-4.

From Head Coach Jenny Mainz:
“It was great to get the fall season started this weekend at Ole Miss. We played a lot of quality matches and assessed things we need to focus on moving forward. This was an invaluable learning weekend for our freshmen. This tournament undoubtedly will help prepare us for Regionals.

“I like the way we finished today. We battled in singles against Ole Miss showing a lot of grit and heart."

Alabama will return home to host the ITA Southern Regionals. Competition will begin Oct. 14 and will run through Oct. 19
